The network

A shared lineage, taught locally

Wing Chun Universe connects four Victorian academies through the teaching of Grandmaster Joe Sayah and the instructors who continue that work.

Beginning early

From student to instructor

Joe Sayah began Wing Chun at nine under Grandmaster William Cheung and received instructor certification at 17.

Teaching became the thread that would connect a wider community. Students developed into instructors, local schools established their own communities, and the academy network grew around a shared practice.

Some historical rank, competition and professional claims in the legacy archive still require documentary confirmation. This foundation therefore publishes only the core facts that can presently be supported.

Today

Four active academies

Mornington, Dandenong, Oakleigh and Glen Waverley operate as the current Wing Chun Universe network. Hastings is permanently closed and is not presented as an active school.

Local responsibility

Each academy owns its current timetable, programme details, contact information and student enquiries.

Shared foundation

The network site explains the art and lineage, introduces instructors and helps visitors reach the correct local academy.

A verified screen credit

One chapter beyond the academy

Joseph Sayah is credited as Bandit Leader in Once Upon a Time in China and America (1997), directed by Sammo Hung and starring Jet Li.

That credit is part of the academy story, but it should not be expanded into unverified choreography or celebrity-training claims. Future Knowledge Centre material will distinguish documented production facts from inference.
